Warning: 3 Rubbish, Junky Teeth Whitening Products Flood Market

It’s that time of the year and once again, junk teeth whitening products are filling the market by the dozen, conning us out of our hard earned cash. There’s something about having sparkling white teeth though that drives people to try anything. As a dentist, I am always appaled by what the FDA approves for human consumption, especially when some of the products I have personally researched have been known to cause cancer in lab rats.
Here is a skinny of the products you MUST avoid to keep a healthy mouth:
What Doesn’t Work:
1. Crest Whitestrips:
Unfortunately, these are neither effective nor long lasting if you’re looking for a truly brilliant set of teeth. These thin slips of plastic are coated with a layer of hydrogen peroxide on one side. As I have already mentioned in previous articles, PEROXIDE CAUSES CANCER.
This is one thing I keep telling and telling patients over and over. For your health, please do not use hydrogen peroxide. Furthermore, it wipes off the enamel with enough use.
2. GoSmile Advanced Forumla:
These are even worst than the crest death-strips; they contain nearly twice as much peroxide! Avoid at all costs. I get customers who come in with teeth as yellow and as soft as cheese wondering what happened.
Turns out the enamel has been wiped out after months of prolonged use.
3. Luster 1 Hour White:
This is one that gives me an absolute laugh. I will publicly go infront of the supreme court and swear under oath: Luster 1 Hour White is a ridiculous GIMMICK. Independent studies have revealed that nothing happens when you “light activate” your teeth. What’s merely happening is that your teeth are being dehydrated.
The kicker is that after the hour passes, your teeth become YELLOWER than they were to begin with. And more sensitive! How do they even manage to sell this stuff?
What Works:
If you’re like me, you want to have a shining white mouth and you don’t want to have to pay upwards of $800 for it. Yes, you can have a lusterous, white set of teeth…it won’t even take you two weeks. Click on my blog for the best teeth whitening info available.
